How It All Began

So there I was, I believe it was around this time last year, minding my own business in Wal-Mart (Yes those of you that know me know I should just rent a room there) Shopping for supplies for care-packages and letters to my deployed troops when someone asked about my shirt of all things. As I was explaining what  Soldiers' Angels is all about, an older gentleman who was in the aisle also came out with an angry retort that letters made no difference and all that service members wanted was packages and that they were ungrateful.

When I asked him why he felt this way, he could not give me a valid reason, but I told him that while a respected his opinion he was in fact VERY wrong. To which he responded with something along the lines of no he wasn't. To which a pretty civil debate ensued which resulted in a challenge being issued:

To write/send 4,000 letters to deployed troops in 2013

Letter 4,000 was mailed on August 31, 2013. But, I committed to sending for a full year and so that's what I did. As of December 31, 2013 6,345 letters were mailed to troops serving our country on foreign soil.

As 2014 came in with a bang, I struggled to figure out "what's next?" But, the answer was staring me in the face: KEEP WRITING!!! So for 2014 the magic number is 7,000
But, honestly it doesn't matter what number I choose, as long as there is a need I will keep writing.
